Closing Out Summer

Wow! Where did the summer go? I know it is actually still summer, but for us, summer vacation has come to an end :(

Here's a recap of our summer in pictures ~ in no particular order :)

Our niece, Amy, graduated from the University of Alabama on August 6th. She was supposed to graduate in the spring, but the tornado that ripped through Tuscaloosa in April caused so much damage they postponed the Spring Commencement and combined it with the Summer Commencement.

I always get a little sad this time of year...

I know most people get excited about the start of a new school year, and I do too, but I really don't like starting school at the beginning of August. It's still sooo hot here, and we ought to be still having lazy days without much structure still, not having to get up early and get out to school. I feel sorry for the kids who have to ride the buses here. It's just too hot. I like the idea of starting back to school at the end of August, (like we did when I was a kid) some even remember when school didn't start back until after Labor Day. I think if I didn't have one in school, if I still homeschooled both of them, I might wait until after Labor Day to start. I like the lazy days of summer too much, I guess. But that's just my opinion.
